Oxnard College is located in Ventura County. Here we offer the CPAT on a regular basis, and our campus is currently the only California Community College authorized to administer the test. While most of our candidates are out of Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties, testing is open to anyone interested.

The CPAT orientation and test will be offered again on the following dates:

ORIENTATION: 7 Mar 03 0830-1200
TEST: 3 May 03

For those who have already attended or wish to waive orientation, our next scheduled CPAT is on 7 Mar 03. (NOTE: This option is NOT recommended for first-time candidates and the orientation waiver applies to this test date ONLY.)

Below is our tentative schedule for the 2003 calendar year, listed by orientation date/test date:

Cost is $100.00 for both the orientation and test, which is payable by personal check only and made to "OC CPAT." Third party and out-of-state checks will be accepted, provided that a valid Drivers License number and state of issuance is written on the check. Payment is due on or before each orientation date, but there is a ONE-TIME exception for the 7 Mar test where fees will be accepted up to that date. No refunds will be offered, and in case of insufficient funds a candidate's CPAT certificate will be invalidated.

The CPAT orientation and test will be offered again on the following dates:

TEST: 11 Jul AND 18 Jul 03 beginning at 0800.

Due to the high volume of calls, we are posting information regarding the most commonly asked questions:

1. We are now accepting registration requests via letter, phone, e-mail, and fax. E-mail is now the most preferred means of communication and registration requests may be sent to the following addresses:

Fax requests may be sent to (805) 484-1651. Our mailing address is Oxnard College, Fire Technology Dept., 4000 S Rose Ave., Oxnard, CA 93033.

For all written communications, please include the following information as a minimum:

First and last name
Phone number where you can be reached
Desired orientation/test date
Sponsoring Fire Department (if applicable)

Registration by phone is still acceptable; should you reach our voice mail, please leave a message and we will return your call. Our phone number is (805) 384-8109.


2. Below is our fee schedule:

All first-time CPAT candidates: $100 for both the orientation and test.
All repeat test-takers, including CPAT recerts: $75 for candidates whose orientation and test took place at Oxnard College, $100 for all others (total includes a $25 administrative fee).

Payment is due at least one week before each scheduled orientation date (see above for our mailing address). Acceptable forms of payment are by personal check or money order only and made to "OC CPAT." Out-of-state checks will be accepted, as long as a valid Driver's License Number AND state of issuance is written on the check. Slots are filled on a "first come, first served" basis, and candidates will not be assigned a test slot or orientation slot until payment is received. (HINT: the sooner you submit your payment, the earlier your assigned testing time.)

3. We can process a maximum of 120 candidates per test day. If there are less than 100 candidates signed up for a given test date, we will cancel the test and move those candidates to the next test date. (HINT: Register for the earliest date if you are aiming to take the test during a certain month.) If this results in scheduling more than 120 candidates for the rescheduled test day, we will accomodate with an additional test date.

4. As an off-campus location, we are located within the Camarillo Airport at 101 N Durley Ave., Camarillo, CA 93010. Directions are available on www.mapquest.com and our offices are located at the end of Durley Ave.

Thanks to everyone for demonstrating an interest in the CPAT program at Oxnard College!

Based on the calls that we've received this morning, it looks like the web site is comprehensive enough to accomodate most visitors. However, based on those same responses the following passage begs for clarification:

"Applications are accepted in the order they are received. Applications are not accepted until the fee has been paid. There are a maximum of 120 candidates per test day. So select your orientation and test date, fill out the application and submit along with your fee to reserve a slot."

The "application" is actually a web-based work in progress and will eventually be posted online for your future convenience. In the meantime, below is the information that the application will eventually contain:

Candidates who have signed up for those test dates will have their test slots moved automatically to the next available times on August 16, 2003 in the order they were originally received. Consequently, this will be the only test administered in the month of August.

We have also added another CPAT orientation to our schedule. This orientation will take place on July 25, 2003 at 1100. The CPAT test paired with this orientation will take place in September; exact test date will be posted once it is finalized.
