I've been lurking here for awhile, but just became a member recently. I come from firefighting family here in San Diego, my father was Federal for 30+ years, and my Father-in-Law is still kicking strong in the SDFD. Anyway, when I was younger, I really wanted to be a FireFighter and then I kind of got side tracked, had a family, etc....Anyway, I'm wondering if I'm too late to do it now. I'm 31, and I'll just be starting the process. Any advice, suggestions, or feedback iis much appreciated.

Scott,
I think you'll find that you're not alone at all. There are many people starting to pursue this career after they have already gone down a certain career path, started a family, etc. By no means are you "too old", in fact you'll bring a lot of life experience and it will show in your Oral Boards when you have a chance to talk about it.
Here are some discussions that took place here recently regarding age that I think you'll find quite reassuring.

I hope they help paint a good picture. As someone who resigned from my prior career to pursue this dream, I fully support you and wish you the best!
