CPAT stands for Candidate Physical Ability Test. This is a standardized physical test that was established by the IAFF/ICHIEFS Wellness-Fitness Task Force. The CPAT consists of eight events in which you will have a total of 10min 20sec to complete.

You'll find that many departments across the country are using the CPAT certification process as their physical test.

Here are a couple links that should help. You can also perform a search of this site...just enter "CPAT" into the search field and you'll find a wealth of information.

Thanks to everyone for demonstrating an interest in the CPAT program at Oxnard College!

Based on the calls that we've received this morning, it looks like the web site is comprehensive enough to accomodate most visitors. However, based on those same responses the following passage begs for clarification:

"Applications are accepted in the order they are received. Applications are not accepted until the fee has been paid. There are a maximum of 120 candidates per test day. So select your orientation and test date, fill out the application and submit along with your fee to reserve a slot."

The "application" is actually a web-based work in progress and will eventually be posted online for your future convenience. In the meantime, below is the information that the application will eventually contain:

Name (Last, First)
Address
Contact Phone Number
Desired Orientation Date
Desired Test Date
E-mail address

We apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused. However, as previously stated we accept candidate sign-ups via e-mail (preferred), phone, or fax that contains the information above.

Should anyone have any questions or concerns, please feel free to send an e-mail to ocfiretech@vcccd.net (preferred) or call at (805) 384-8109 and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.

Thanks again!
