First off, is your CA EMT-1 national registry? If it is, your in good shape. I am going through this process with WA. Up there you just need to fill out the paperwork. I am not sure if there is another test? With regards to FFI, your basically out of luck (at least in WA). I contacted the state Fire Marshal up there and was told that they do not recognize out of state FFI credentials. You can however, challenge the test once you are there (but usually you have to be sponsored from a dept to do so). This also goes for CA if you have certification from other states.
