Hi, I was recently discharged from the Marine Corps for having asthma. I spent ~3 weeks in bootcamp. My discharge was not honorable nor dishonorable. It was an Entry Level Seperation. My asthma has no bearing on me performing physical activities and doesn't limit me in any way. It is mostly allergy related. Would this hinder me from ever becoming a firefighter?

Rancor,
I personally cannot give you an answer in regards to your situation. However, if you post your question in the Open Forum, you may receive more opinions and perhaps guidance from knowledgeable persons in and out of the fire service. I hope you find what you are looking for. Best Wishes.

Choose another career - I can't think of a department that would hire a candidate with asthma.
