Requirements:
Four (4) years of experience in fire service investigations; OR
Four (4) years of experience in law enforcement which includes either two (2) years of fire investigation work or two (2) years of law enforcement criminal investigations; OR
Any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities.
Must pass all job related tests.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
A valid Washington State Driver's License is required for employment.
Candidates will be required to obtain or currently have the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI) certified fire investigator or equivalent certification within 12 months of employment and maintain certification. The requirement may be extended by the Fire Marshal.
Candidates must successfully pass a complete background investigation, criminal records check, fingerprinting, psychological evaluation and a polygraph examination as determined by the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office.
Ability to complete WA State Basic Law Enforcement Academy, Reserve Academy, or equivalency (timeframe to be determined upon hire).
Commissioned employees may be required to be armed at all times while on duty and will carry official identification when armed. Commissioned employees will need to qualify with firearms on a regular basis as required by the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office.

Requirements:
Knowledge of: Firefighter, EMT and Paramedic duties in accordance with District standards; operations, policies and procedures relating to the responsibilities of the Firefighter-Paramedic; the operation and maintenance of vehicles, apparatus and equipment; streets and local geography; Driver-Operator duties and responsibilities in accordance with District operations, policies and procedures when qualified by the organization.
Experience: None required. Experience in the position or area of responsibility and/or assigned as a Reserve or Full-time Firefighter-EMT (or Paramedic) with another emergency services organization highly desirable.
Education: Possession of a high school diploma, G.E.D. equivalency or a high school proficiency certificate.
Driver’s License:
• Possession of a valid Class C California Driver’s License (California Firefighter Endorsement highly desirable).
Certifications/Licenses:
• State of California EMT or Paramedic (State of California Paramedic License and San Diego County Paramedic
accreditation required upon appointment)
• American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider CPR (all candidates) and AHA ACLS
Certification (required upon appointment)
• Successful completion of an approved, accredited Fire Academy (California State Board of Fire Services Firefighter
I or Firefighter II certification, or approved equivalent highly desirable)
• California Office of Emergency Services HazMat First Responder Operational (FRO) certificate, or
approved equivalent
• California State Board of Fire Services Driver/Operator 1A & 1B certification (highly desirable)
• California State Fire Marshal’s Office Rescue Systems 1, LARRO or Rescue Systems 2 (highly desirable)
• Proof of successful completion of a physical abilities exam taken within the last year with the CPAT, JPA or
Biddle.
* Within one (1) year following successful completion of the probationary period, employee shall apply for
“State Certified Apparatus Operator/Pump” certification
