Requirements:

Arizona Firefighter I and II certification or NFPA equivalent.
Arizona Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).
Five (5) years of full-time experience as a Firefighter/EMT (or Firefighter/CEP), including two (2) years of full-time experience as either a Firefighter/CEP or Engineer.
Leadership I, II, and III series or District approved equivalent.
Tactics and Procedures (MCC: FSC 235 or approved equivalent).
Building Construction (MCC: FSC 233 or approved equivalent).
I-100, I-200 and ICS-300(MAG-300), IS-700, IS-800.
Speak, read and write the English language.
Meet MVFD physical standards.
Meet insurability requirements of the MVFD insurance carrier.
Successful candidates shall be subject to a complete background investigation, along with a physical examination, drug screening, criminal and motor vehicle background check.

Preferred Qualifications:
Arizona Certified Emergency Paramedic (CEP) or National Registry Certified Emergency Paramedic (CEP).
Successful completion of Fire Instructor I.
Incident Safety Officer (Arizona State Fire Marshal or District approved equivalent.
Fire Investigation (MCC: FSC 242 or approved equivalent).
Associate’s degree from a nationally accredited college in Fire Science or other related field.

Requirements:

Requirements:

Must be 18 years of age or older. Must possess a minimum of a BLS CPR & AED course. Must be committed to reside in the Samoa Fire District station for a minimum of 2 years. Must obtain National Registry EMT-B certification and California EMT-B license within 6 months of hire. Must obtain a commercial Class B driver's permit within 6 months of hire. Must be able to work as an effective team member and be able to communicate under stressful situations.

The Resident Firefighter Program is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience and explore a career in the fire service, typically while attending Humboldt State University or College of the Redwoods. Resident Firefighters live full-time at our station and work a minimum of one 24-hour shift or "duty day" per week during which typical duties of a career firefighter are carried out and emergencies are responded to. Residents also respond to call while they are available at the station though not necessarily on their duty day.
