Glendale, CA College- Offering Exciting Courses!!

Looking for a career in the fire service?

Glendale, CA Community College is offering outstanding courses for those interested in obtaining a degree in Fire Science. If you live near the L.A./Foothill area (including the S.F. Valley) Glendale College is a fast and convenient way to earn your degree in this rewarding career. The Fire Science courses are all CSU transferable. Instructors are all active members in the fire service, ranging from Battalion Chief to Firefighter.

This '08 Fall semester we are offering Fire 115 (Building Construction) where there will be exciting group activities and field trips through various buildings in the city. Fire 101 (Introduction) will be held at Glendale Fire Station 21 where you will encounter on-duty firefighters! Other on-campus classes include Fire 104 (Firefighting Tactics) and Fire 108 (Apparatus/Equipment). There are many networking opportunities and learning is reinforced by attending classes on the college campus.

Additionally, we also offer a part-time (weekend) academy that runs every year. You will receive many certifications including: Auto-X, RS1, Haz-Mat, and FF1 completion, not to forget the many live fire opportunities! All instructors are very progressive and continually stay engaged with many of the new issues and concepts that are continually being introduced to the fire service.

Only a few weeks left!!

The Verdugo Fire Academy, a state accredited academy, is still accepting applications for the 2010 Cl*ss XIII. There are only a few spots left, so don't be left behind.

There is a large wave of firefighters retiring over the next couple of years, and fire departments will be looking to fill these spots (even with budget cuts)! Having a fire academy under your belt makes you a much more marketable individual compared to someone "fresh off the streets." In addition to the academy completion certificate that you can earn, you will also earn training and other technical certificates (including: Hazmat, Rescue Systems, Wildland, Auto Extrication, Fire Control 1-3, and many others) that will put you ahead of the competition.

We have also added many new highly qualified instructors to our staff that come from diverse backgrounds and experiences. The last day to apply for Cl*ss XIII is December 1, 2009!

The Verdugo Fire Academy is located out of Glendale Community College, in the foothills of Glendale, CA.
